SLU Glee Club 09/05/2009
 
The Saint Louis University (SLU) Glee Club (Baguio City) is the choir to beat in the National Choir Finals of the NAMCYA on 14 Nov 2009.  They were the previous winners in the 2005 College Choir National Finals, held every three or four years, so they hold the distinction of being the most recent champion.

The SLU Glee Club showed the highest level of artistic and technical performance among all the groups that have won in the regionals so far, including Mindanao and Visayas.  Next week and the week following, around 6 more groups will participate in the regional competitions for Manila.

Hi Sir John August,

I believe SLU Glee is indeed the strongest group to beat in this year's Namcya. I am also looking forward to see how UMC will perform on November 14. I, as well, love their rendition of R. Stroope's "Riveder le Stelle." We are looking forward of singing this piece in the future.

Sayang nga lang hindi nag-qualify ang TSU Chorale sa national but it was just ok. We are still supporting the rest of the choirs in the finals. Goodluck as well to Coro Tomasino!

Hi Ethan,

It's a coincidence that UMC's video application for NAMCYA is Benny Castillon's KRUHAY and Sir John Pamintuan's Go the Distance is the same with the Tarlac State University's choice piece. We almost have similar interpretation on both pieces. See youtube link below:

During the Regional Center Competitions in UP Diliman (Sir John Pamintuan was present that time,)we should be singing CRUCIFIXUS as planned. But becuase we don't have the license to sing it, we deliberately refrain from singing it. Instead, the group sing Nilo Alcala's Dayo-Dayo Kupita, Fidel Calalang's "Circle of Life" as the two other required pieces besides Jubilate Deo.

Five choirs competed in the NCR leg. Coro Tomasino, TSU Chorale, University of Makati Chorale, UP Vocal Ensemble and Manila Adventist Medical Center Church Choir. Coro Tomasino was able to enter the National finals.

We are still happy, though. Hoping UMC will do best in the finals. SLU Glee is very strong, I believe.

really, i thought we're just the same on sir benny's kruhay only.. i was not expecting that u too singing go the distance.. well i'm just hoping that we can do our best this final. We can't do anymore if slu is really great, what we ask for right now is the blessing of the Lord. Hope all of us will be blessed during the finals.

Right now, we're still practicing the other choice piece. Namcya is already fast approaching but we're still working on with our other choice piece.. huhhuh please pray for us... jejejje
